Renseigneringswet

13-01-2026

What is the Renseigneringswet?

The Renseigneringswet is a Dutch law that gives the Dutch Tax and Customs Administration (Belastingdienst) insight into payments made toindividuals who do not have an employment contract.

Because Secret View pays out fees for completed assignments, Secret View may be required to report (part of) these payments. That is why wemay ask you to provide certain personal details and/or verify your profile.

This does not automatically mean you have to pay tax on yourincome from Secret View. Whether that is the case depends on your personal situation.

The Renseigneringswet applies only in the Netherlands. The law applies to mystery shoppers who:

· live in the Netherlands, or

· carry out assignments in the Netherlands, or

· have a Dutch tax identity

When does Secret View report your income?

Normally, the reporting obligation applies in principle fromthe first euro. However, Secret View has agreed with the Belastingdienst thatwe will only report if you have received €750 or more in fees via Secret View in asingle calendar year.

If you stay below this amount, your income will not bereported under the Renseigneringswet.

What does this mean for you?

· Secret View may be legally required to reportpayments made to you

· To do this, we ask you to provide certainpersonal details

· We ask you to verify your identity so thatinformation can be linked correctly

Providing your details:

· does not automatically mean you have to pay tax

· does mean the Belastingdienst has visibility of this income

Whether this affects you depends on your personal tax situation.

Deducting expenses

If you (may) need to pay tax, certain expenses can often beused, depending on your situation, to reduce your taxable result. Always keepyour receipts/supporting documents.

When you provide your details, you can also record expensesyou incurred to carry out assignments, such as:

· Travel expenses (public transport, fuel)

· Parking costs

· Other relevant expenses

FAQ

Who in the Secret View community does this apply to?

It applies to community members who receive payments from Secret View for completed assignments (and are therefore not employed by Secret View). Secret View only reports if you have been paid € 750 or more in total in one calendar year.

Does this apply to every amount I get paid?

Normally, the reporting obligation applies from any amount. Secret View uses a minimum threshold of € 750 per calendar year, based on anagreement with the Belastingdienst.

What information does Secret View report?

If we fall under the reporting obligation, this generallyincludes:
· the total amount paid out
· the payment date
· your name
· your address
· your date of birth
· where applicable: your BSN (Dutch CitizenService Number)

Why does Secret View ask for my date of birth and (possibly) BSN?

Because this information may be needed to meet the reporting obligation and to make sure the report is linked to the correct person.

Can I record expenses (deductions) such as travel or parking?

Yes. You can record relevant expenses. Depending on your situation, these costs can be used to reduce the taxable result. Always keepyour supporting documents.

Can I send an invoice?

No. Secret View does not work with invoices for payouts. Fees are paid out via the platform.

Does this mean I automatically have to pay tax?

No. Sharing your details does not automatically mean youhave to pay tax. This depends on your total income and personal situation.

What if I don’t want to provide my details?

We are legally required to record certain information. Without the required details, we may not be able to make (new) payouts and/orallow you to carry out assignments via the platform.

How do I know which details were reported?

Once the Belastingdienst has accepted our report, this will be visible in the Secret View platform.

Can I delete my account?

After payouts, your account can be deactivated but cannot befully deleted. Data that is no longer relevant will be anonymised.
